100 things for summer.

I love "100 things" blogs. I can't scroll past a "100 things" infographic on Pinterest. They are my kryptonite.

Here are my 100(ish) things I love to do with my boys in summer.

  • Read a chapter book

  • Watch the movie when we've finished

  • Movie themed snacks for above

  • Ride bikes

  • Shoot hoops

  • Go for a hike

  • Picnics are life

  • Break out the metal detector

  • Creek swimmin'

  • Catchin' crawdads

  • Outside movie night

  • Flying kites

  • Catching lightening bugs; what we were doing in the picture below

  • The library is a bomb resource in the summer- DVDs, books obviously

  • And usually the library has a summer reading program with cool crafts and prizes and such

  • Grow a garden

  • Canning salsa and relish- this is all hands on deck

  • Visit a farmers market

  • Make a meal together. Once on We Bare Bears (an adorable cartoon) they had a calzone food stand, so the boys and I made a big deal out of making calzones, googling a recipe, trip to the store, making them and serving them.

  • Visit flea markets

  • Pitch a tent in the yard

  • Shadow puppets

  • Pick wild berries

  • Runt through the sprinkler

  • Homemade popsicles

  • For those, like us, that have a million cousins, kickball games, fancy 5K, epic tag games, etc etc

  • Wildflower bouquets

  • Find turtles

  • Look for worms

  • Write letters, take a field trip to post office

  • Home made slip n slide

  • Mud pies

  • Matinees are *way* cheaper than evening shows and a lot of theaters run family specials once a week

  • Planetarium

  • Look for constellations

  • Fire pit

  • S'mores over the fire pit

  • WATERMELON (We happen to live in a city that claims "World's sweetest.)

  • There are always a ton of festivals and parades in summer

  • Fireworks

  • BBQs
